My dear Engels,
Marx reiste zusammen mit
seinter Tochter Jenny zur Erholung am 9. August (seine Frau Jenny und
Tochter Eleanor folgten am 11. August) nach Ramsgate und blieb dort bis
zu 31. d. M. Siehe Marx
an Engels, 8.8.1870.
Schließen You will see from the address that we are once more at
Ramsgate. I suppose
you know that last Tuesday Mohr &
Jenny went to Engels siedelte
am 20. September 1870 von Manchester nach London über (siehe
E. Dupont an Marx,
19.9.1870
) und war im Vorfeld auf der Suche
nach einer Wohnung.
Schließen look for houses.—Mama & I left London yesterday, & after a very pleasant
journey arrived here safe and sound. I say a pleasant
journey, though I dont think Mama thought so. The sea was very rough, the waves
dashing over the ship & wetting | everybody.—All the passengers with the
exception of one lady, myself, & several gentlemen, were sea-sick. This lady
and I climbed up just by the side of the Captain’s deck, & there we sat
down. It was great fun. This morning I turned out before six o’clock in the
morning & walked about till nine. I intend to go to the sands now & take
a good bathe.—Yesterday Papa had
L. Kugelmann an Marx,

Schließen a
letter from Kugelmann
.—He writes about that book
to
which Rossa’s
likeness
is to be prefixed. He thanks very much for
what you
wrote, but says he has not got the likeness.—Now
Jane
sent it shortly after Friedrich Engels: Vorwort zu einer
Sammlung irischer Lieder (MEGA2 I/21. S. 235/236 und Erl. S.
1581–1583).
Schließen
your
preface
was sent—so I suppose they did n’t get it.
Would you mind sending them your copy—you know that one that was given with the
“Irishman”.— | We shall
be much obliged to you if you will.—Now I must finish, for I’m in a hurry to go
out again
So with best love to all
Believe me to beYour affectionate
