[Abschrift aus den Notizen zu Robert Owen]

Early in 1813 Owen published: „A new View of Society, or, Essays on the Principle of the Formation of the Human Character and the Application of the Principle to Practice“, unter demselben Titel, aber vervollständigt durch einen 2ten Essay: written and published at the end of 1813. Er sagt selbst in der Ausgabe von 1816, die mit 3t u. 4t Essay, ausser den beiden ersten, bereichert:

• ⦗Essay III „The principles of the former Essays applied to a particular situation“  Zusatz von Marx.
  Schließen (nämlich die der Fabrikanten) und
• Essay IV „The principles of the former Essays applied to a particular Situation Government“⦘

»the third and fourth Essays written and printed and circulated among the principal political, literary and religious characters in this country, and on the continent, as well as amongst the governments of Europe, America and British India. They were first printed for sale in July 1816.«

  • „Mr. Owen … has published and placed at the head of his writings, the excellent work of J. Bellers, and has ascribed to the latter gentleman, with a candour and a liberality which does Mr. Owen great honour, the merit due to the New Views.“
