The Machine Manufacturers of whom I spoke to you would not accept my offer and I therefore at once made a similar offer to Messrs. Fox and Reed, the type Founders of Fann St. E.C.
They are willing to supply me not only with type but also with materials, presses etc upon your security £ 65. Their representative Mr Hall will likely call upon you to morrow when I trust the matter will be satisfactorily | settled. Kindly drop me a line after your interview with the traveller. I have not received any of the rules, stamps or resolutions yet, but I hope to get them on Monday evening as they are growing very impatient in the provinces. Mrs McDonnell joins me in kindest regards to you and Mrs Engels

Soweit aus der Fotokopie zu ersehen ist, besteht der Brief aus einem Bogen weißem Papier. McDonnell hat die erste und dritte Seite vollständig beschrieben, die übrigen zwei Seiten sind leer. Schreibmaterial: schwarze Tinte.
Von unbekannter Hand: Nummerierung des Briefes oben auf der ersten Seite mit Bleistift: „481“.
Anmerkungen zum Brief
Zur Datierung: Der Brief steht im Zusammenhang mit dem Brief an Engels vom Donnerstag, 7. September 1871. Der Sonntag vor diesem Datum fiel auf den 3. September 1871, wobei der Brief vermutlich erst am Montag, den 4. September in die Post ging.
