Dear Sir,

I have been informed that Mr Mottershead will not stand for Secretary, as he is already engaged in that capacity by the Labour Representation League.

He says Mr. Eccarius is the man; and Mr M’s friends will support Mr E.

I am desired by them to ascertain if you are prepared to support his | candidature, and if you think it will also receive the assent of Dr Marx and the foreign members generally.

If this proposal will not, in your pinion, obtain acceptance, can you make any suggestion on the subject?

I am anxious to impress strongly upon you the absolute necessity of uniting upon one man, whoever he may be, as otherwise, things may relapse into their old condition.

| If you will write to me by-return of post I will communicate with the other parties, and arrange the programme.

With compliments of the season

Yours faithfully
M. M. Barry

F. Engels Esq.
