My dear Dr Marx,
The trouble which I so much regret to have given you, arose from my desire to extend the resources for the refugees.
I shall be with you on Tuesday Evening and hope to call on Wednesday Morning to make acquaintance with the Young Ladies.
Affairs are always with the many if guided by intelligence and unwearied perseverence; instance the success of the strike at Newcastle, the precursor of many other, if well disciplined. But it is an arduous struggle and will need union, sympathy, forbearance on the part of sympathisers as well as the talent for fit organization which you possess.
If it be true that
“Those, also, serve who stand & wait” my service is great, for I know how to wait. | I will try to get some more aid and it shall be, if I can so obtain it, given to the refugee fund in bulk
Mrs Allsops desires her thanks in anticipation for the letter you have been so thoughtful to remember.
Always faithfully & fraternallyT. Allsop
I sent some Irishmen to Miss Marx & I now send a rigmarole account of the Nest of the International, which some idle fellow has supplied to the Standard.
