My dear Friend,

I regret to hear that the funds are deficient and shall do my possible—that I regret is very little—.

I will also try one or two of my friends—Those whom I know are the rich who are consciously or unconsciously oppressors—look upon their wealth—law made—as a possession not to be questioned, or the poor who have little else but sympathies to give.

The harsher the repression the better. It will teach the men who make revolutions to discard rose water; not to throw away magnanimity on the priests and Bourgeoisie who never practice it & hold in slight estimation those who do.

I will try to attend on Tuesday evening but am at present ill from the heat
