Der geplante zweite Band des „Kapital“ sollte ursprünglich Buch 2 und Buch 3 enthalten. Siehe Karl Marx: Das Kapital. Kritik der politischen Oekonomie. Erster Band. Buch I. Vorwort (MEGA II/5. S. 14). Die Manuskripte zum zweiten und dritten Buch des „Kapital“, an denen Marx bis zum Ende seines Lebens weiterarbeitete, wurden erst nach seinem Tod von Engels als Band 2 und Band 3 veröffentlicht.
