Schließen yr excellent letter wh. appears in the “Daily News“ of this date. Would that the English reading public could have administered to them similar small doses of the true every morning at their breakfast tables, then me thinks their mental health would improve, and public morality grow and fatten upon what it fed.

I trust it will serve as a hint to some of our mouthing platform professional | “mobs” more especially, the workingmen “representatives”, for untill they are better informed than at present all their “Cattle Show” demonstrations—with ribbons & banners and bands of music will be of no avail to their emancipation.

If not asking too much may I ask you kindly to give me a rough sketch of the dates & doings of the present French Foreign Minister—I mean M. Jules Favre – What I know of his performances is what I have been able to glean from M. Louis Blanc’s “Historic Pages”—a very meagre account of the affairs of ’48.

I have not heard from my son in Manchester, nor can I understand the reason. I have again wrote to him & should you hear from Dupont I shall be glad to be informed. Meanwhile, dear Dr Marx believe me yr hastily & fraternally
