Schließen my “Fortnightly” article, but I own that having stated that Lassallian principles could in great measure be traced to you, I thought I had sufficiently qualified my use of a term so well known on the Continent. Whether you agreed or not with Lassalle’s or anybody else’s schemes for state-help to cooperative | production,  Karl Marx: Misère de la Philosophie. Réponse à la Philosophie de la Misère de M. Schließen your “Misère de la Philosophie”, the only work of yours with which I was acquainted, showed me how much Lassalle had borrowed from you.

I was of course aware of, and had been struck by,  Siehe Marx an J. M. Ludlow, 10.4.1869.
Schließen your testimony in favour of trade-societies, however different, as I should infer from that work, would probably be the end to which their organization should be directed.
