the letters have arrived, and given us much pleasure. When do you think “the work” will be finished? I am asked by so many people, and cannot tell anything.

From Geneva they protest against the London cards of membership. I don't know exactly what to do. If you don't desire it very much, I should not give any more cards, for it is impossible, to found a society here under the present laws and circumstances. The principal thing is, to get hold of the working classes, and I think our ideas make splendid progress amongst them. Here we have driven the Fortschrittlers out of the field altogether.

If the war does not break out, or leaves Leipzig untouched I shall start a daily paper here under the assistance of two Workingmen's Societies.

In the name of the “Arbeiterbildungsverein” I shall soon have to undertake a little propagandic trip, and—which is really good—, at the expense of the—Nationalverein!

The “Warning” is inserted in the Abendpost | (here), the “Wochenblatt” (Mannheim) the Oberrheinische Courier (Freiburg i. Baden) and has been sent to all the “Arbeiterzeitungen” of Germany.

I sent you a copy of the Abendpost with an extra supplement containing a short report of the tremendous whipping we gave the Bismarckians on Tuesday last.

Please to forward the enclosed letter without delay. I offer to send the Star one or two letters a week.

You have again forgotten the “Commonwealth”.
