My dear Sir

At a Conference of Freethinkers held at Radleys Hotel on Tuesday last the 22nd Inst (pursuant to an invitation a Copy of which was forwarded to you) & attended by upwards of 70 Ladies & Gentlemen it was resolved that  Siehe Marx an Engels, 2.11.1867 „Der einliegende Brief v. Maughan ...“.
Schließen a “Central Association of Freethinkers” should be formed. Twenty Eight friends were nominated and requested to form a Preliminary Council (with power to add to their number), first, to Settle the basis of Action, then, to draw up an address to be sent to known Freethinkers inviting their Co operation, and finally, to fully constitute the Association.

Schließen As you were among those thus requested to act upon the Council, the favour of your attendance is solicited at the first Meeting to be held at No 4 Chatham Place Bridge St foot of Blackfriars Bridge (left side) on Monday next Novr 4th at 7. P.M.

In case you are unable or find it inconvenient to accede to the request of the Meeting I shall feel obliged by your letting me know as early as possible.
