Dear Sir
I am much obliged to you for
Karl Marx: Das Kapital. Bd. 1.
Buch 1. Hamburg 1867. – Die Widmung im Exemplar des ersten
Bandes des „Kapital“, das Marx an Beesly schickte, lautete: „To
Professor E. S. Beesly Lond. 18 Sept. 1867. Karl Marx“ (siehe auch Erl. zu
Engels
an Laura Marx, 23.9.1867). Das Buch
befindet befindet sich z. Z. in
Privatbesitz.
Schließen your book which has been forwarded to me here. I am sorry & ashamed to be
obliged to confess that I do not
| know German. I have long been intending
to learn it & your book I hope will supply the final stimulus needed, for I
perceive by the notes that it
| is full of interesting matter & I gather
that the diseases of Society appear to you in the same light as they do to me.
Whether we should agree on
| the remedy I do not know & probably it is
too much to expect. But when the world generally so persistently ignores the
disease there must be a wide field for our cooperation.
yours truly
ESBeesly
Dr Marx
