I will hope to bring you some more aid, though not so much as I wish.

I will hope to see you on Tuesday—can you contrive to dine with me on that day at the German House in the Strand or at 184 Euston Road as something may be struck out in a quiet half hours conversation.

In the meantime, please make out a list of those you would prefer to aid in sums of 5/=Schilling. & 10/ to the extent of seven Pounds (7 £) at your leisure, and, as soon as possible give me “particulars of some of the cases most distressed to place before an actively benevolent citizen”, such is the request of a very old friend of mine who himself is a contributor.

In this list must be given particulars and details, even addresses in some cases—this will in no way interfere with those whose delicacy or susceptibility we wish to respect, as the funds from other sources may be diverted to them.

You will do this, my dear friend, will you not, as soon as possible, and forgive me this urgency; the first list will do when I see you; but the list of particulars as to the most distressed I wish at once.
