Soweit aus der Fotokopie zu ersehen ist, besteht der Brief aus einem Bogen blauem Papier. Allmann hat zwei Seiten vollständig beschrieben, die übrigen zwei Seiten sind leer. Schreibmaterial: schwarze Tinte.

Gedruckter Briefkopf auf der ersten beschriebenen Seite: „Julius Allmann & Co / Consulting Engineers, / Patent Agents, / &c.“ , rechts daneben Adress- und Datumszeile: „27. Corporation Street, / Manchester, / ___ 18_“.

Von unbekannter Hand: Archivnummerierung mit Bleistift oben links über dem gedruckten Briefkopf: „L I 6–6“.

Last night I reached old Manchester all right. Allow me to thank you & your good lady very heartily for your very kind reception & entertainment during my stay at your house.

I also wish to express my especial gratitude for your capital foresight & knowledge of human nature, that prompted you to give me the company of a bottle with good contents. I appreciated your present so well that I carried it for facility of reference nearest my heart until it got too warm then I found another gentle resting place. The size is perfectly calculated as I took the last good swigg at Guidebridge.

I have to be off this afternoon to Leeds.
