Unmittelbar danach veröffentlichte als erste Tageszeitung die Londoner „Daily News“ die Adresse am 23. Dezember 1864. Am 28. Januar 1865 übermittelte Adams, in einem Brief an Cremer, im Namen von Lincoln die Antwort an den Central General Council. Sie wurde am 6. Februar 1865 u.a. in der „Times“ veröffentlicht.
