                        <p>Archivsignatur des SPD-Archivs auf der ersten Seite: „[II 18] C III 5“
                            (Bleistift).</p>
                        <p>Von unbekannter Hand: Nummerierung des Briefes mit Bleistift oben auf der
                            ersten Seite: „228“.</p>

                    offensichtlich Musikerzieherin von Mary Ellen Burns (geb. 1859), die schon 1869
                    die Musik nicht besonders fleissig studierte (siehe <ref target="https://megadigital.bbaw.de/M0001086">Engels an Marx, 6.7.1869</ref>). Der Brief kann erst nach Engels’
                    Übersiedlung nach London geschrieben worden sein, vermutlich frühestens Ende

                    have striven to persuade her to work well at them <pb/> she brings them each time
                    without improvement. According to your wish I have given her a better kind of
                    music and am wearied each lesson by her complaints about it<supplied cert="high">.</supplied> I should esteem it a favour if you would speak to her on
