Soweit aus der Fotokopie zu ersehen ist, besteht der Brief aus einem Bogen weißem Papier. Die erste Seite des Bogens ist schwarz umrandet. Wasserzeichen: „Joynson / 1869“. Morley hat die erste Seite vollständig beschrieben, die übrigen drei Seiten sind leer. Schreibmaterial: blaue Tinte.

Aufdruck oben rechts auf der ersten Seite: „Flexford House, / near Guildford.“.

Von unbekannter Hand: Nummerierung des Briefes auf der ersten Seite: „137“ (Bleistift).

Do you think there is any likelihood of Dr. Jacoby being willing to write something for usSiehe Marx an J. Jacoby, 4.2.71., with a view to instructing English opinion specially as to the social forces under the surface that meets the eye of the newspaper reader. We should be very glad if he could be induced to do this—nor would terms stand in the way. The paper need not be long. Fifteen or sixteen pages.
