Soweit aus der Fotokopie zu ersehen ist, besteht der Brief aus einem Bogen weißem Papier. Wasserzeichen: „WN / Superfine“. Prägung: „NOTE“<Krone>. Allsop hat die erste Seite vollständig beschrieben, die übrigen drei Seiten sind leer. Schreibmaterial: schwarze Tinte.

My dear Friend,

If 5 £ will secure the departure of the party named at once tomorrow evening, please advance it at once. I shall be at 184 Road tomorrow (Monday) about 4. 30 with the money; if a friend, whom I asked to meet me does not come or stay long, I will, if convenient to you, go to Haverstock Hill with the hope to see your daughters.

I had the pleasure to make acquaintance with Madam Marx and I shall hope to see her on my return. Will it not be possible that you should come here for even three days. It will benefit a great cause.

You must not think it selfish in me to get you here. If it is needful that land should lie fallow should get eight months rest, surely the mind should rest four days.
