Schließen the
cards.
Juni 1866 (siehe
The Minute Book
1864–1866. In: MEGA2 I/20. S. 423.4–5).
vom 5. Juni (W. Liebknecht an Marx,
5.6.1866)
benutzt haben.
Schließen All the leading men of the Workmen's Societies here are ready to become
members, and as I have to start this day week for a propagandistic tour
through Saxony (for short hours and against the labour of
children in mills) I should like to have the cards at the
latest 31. Mai
1866.
Schließen on Thursday
next. I shall lecture about the I.W.A. Everything so far is
going splendidly; I have been denounced as “Republican”, “Communist” etc. but I
have crushed all opposition, and Die Gothaer (auch
Juni 1849 in Gotha trafen (Gothaer
Nachparlament).
Schließen the “Gothaner” of Leipzig will never dare to show their
faces again before a public meeting. Unfortunately they have the police here, and seem bent to give me trouble. However
as I have been highly praised in— „Leipziger Zeitung. Amtsblatt des
Königlichen Landgerichts und des Königlichen Amtsgerichts Leipzig sowie
der Königlichen Amtshauptmannschaft Leipzig“.

Schließen your work you must come to Germany, either for good, or at least for a
series of lectures in the principal Societies.

Schließen we
shall be able to start a (small) daily paper
from July the first. All democratic shades of opinion down
to the “Jacobytes” would be represented, but we should
play the first fiddle (I am to be Editor) and as the “social
| question”
will form the foremost topic, it would be necessary, for you and
Engels to send us an
article
now and then; and Eccarius would have
to take the Lond. correspondence (if possible) of course
for a “consideration”, though a small one. The moment is most favourable. The
“Soc. Dem.” at its last gasp, the pseudo-“democratic” paper of Leipzig bankrupt—and then
the political and social excitement throughout Germany, in short I think there
has never been a better time to found a paper with little money.
Tell me your opinion, and then I shall write more.

Schließen The “Commonwealth”
has not arrived. Please send me the two last numbers.
If the Newspaperproject gets realised I shall subscribe
for the C. at the Postoffice. But till then I should like very much to receive
it regularly through you.
A propos, the cards, that I shall dispose of, will mostly be paid for, and you will get the money. Two thalers I owe you already, but——

Verbreitung erhalten (ebenda. S. 692). Ob Liebknecht die

Schließen In a few days I shall publish (in several papers) a
short notice about “Herr Vogt” and mention a firm, where it may be
had. The book is in the hands of many
leading politicians already, and will sell well now, I
am sure.

get it printed somewhere in South Germany.

optima forma by the old hag.
1866.
Schließen Hillmann is now “president”! under guidance of the glorious trio: Brass, Bismarck and Bucher, three nice B's!
In Berlin things are looking black for the Government. Events may be expected. The misery is terrible.
Our love and best wishes to all of you.
YourMiller.

Schließen the Geneva
affair
I only know what I wrote you last time. I gave the necessary information to
the Berlin people, who bye the by have a hard stand
now. Some will have to fight for the three Bs. Rodbertus, Ziegler and the whole lot of
the friends of Lassalle
have gone over to (or “rallied round”) the Government. It was to be
expected. Excuse my hurry. I am terribly overworked. Take
care of your health. You are wanted.
Zeugenbeschreibung und Überlieferung
Dieser Brief wird hier erstmals veröffentlicht.
Zeugenbeschreibung
Juni 1866 (W. Liebknecht an Marx, 5.6.1866). Im vorliegenden Brief schreibt er über die bevorstehende Propagandareise durch Sachsen („I have to start ...“), am 5. Juni 1866 berichtet Liebknecht, dass er „Last Saturday“, also am 2. Juni, in Chemnitz aufgetreten sei.
Mai 1866 (Marx an W. Liebknecht, 4.5.1866).
