Juni 1866 (siehe The Minute Book 1864–1866. In: MEGA2 I/20. S. 423.4–5).

we shall be able to start a (small) daily paper from July the first.
All democratic shades of opinion down to the “Jacobytes” would be represented, but we should play the first fiddle (I am to be Editor) and as the “social | question” will form the foremost topic, it would be necessary, for you and Engels to send us an article now and then; and Eccarius would have to take the Lond. correspondence (if possible) of course for a “consideration”, though a small one. The moment is most favourable. The “Soc. Dem.” at its last gasp, the pseudo-“democratic” paper of Leipzig bankrupt—and then the political and social excitement throughout Germany, in short I think there has never been a better time to found a paper with little money.

Tell me your opinion, and then I shall write more.

A propos, the cards, that I shall dispose of, will mostly be paid for, and you will get the money. Two thalers I owe you already, but——

In a few days I shall publish (in several papers) a short notice about “Herr Vogt” and mention a firm, where it may be had.
The book is in the hands of many leading politicians already, and will sell well now, I am sure.

I only know what I wrote you last time. I gave the necessary information to the Berlin people, who bye the by have a hard stand now. Some will have to fight for the three Bs. Rodbertus, Ziegler and the whole lot of the friends of Lassalle have gone over to (or “rallied round”) the Government. It was to be expected. Excuse my hurry. I am terribly overworked. Take care of your health. You are wanted.

Briefkontext

Zeugenbeschreibung

Juni 1866 (W. Liebknecht an Marx, 5.6.1866). Im vorliegenden Brief schreibt er über die bevorstehende Propagandareise durch Sachsen („I have to start ...“), am 5. Juni 1866 berichtet Liebknecht, dass er „Last Saturday“, also am 2. Juni, in Chemnitz aufgetreten sei.

Mai 1866 (Marx an W. Liebknecht, 4.5.1866).
